ABS Module replacement

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone help? I brought a 2009 fiesta style plus for my son when he passed his drinking test but the brake pedal was sinking. I have to say the discs and pads looked tired so I thought I’d change them and maybe that would sort it also done the master cylinder. Should be all sorted right? No such luck since all of the mechanical stuff has been changed all that is left to do is the abs module but am slightly worried about doing it.
looked at my local breakers and there are a few that are the same but slightly different numbers on them. Mine is 8V51-2C405 DE but the breakers one has 8V51-2M110 AE.

So my question is will I be able to fit this with no ecu reprogramming or do I have to have the identical numbers?

any help would be so welcome as a brand new part from ford is 1800 quid.

many thanks

aarron

Probably had been drinking too much.

The ABS units are programmed, you are better to just get the original unit refurbished if you suspect that there is a problem, which personally I would very much doubt otherwise you would have an ABS warning light.

Have you checked that the servo unit is fully working ?

Hey guys sorry for the typo meant to say driving not drinking. So I done some more work on the sinking pedal and ruled out the abs. You are absolutely right an electrical problem on the module would throw a warning on the dash but not a mechanical problem.

anyways I went back to basics and bled the system again but no luck. So I chatted to a mate at work who asked if I machine bled them. I had not heard of this so done some digging and found an autel ob2 that does the job and bobs your mothers brother - all sorted. Thanks for all your help guys
