Ford Fiesta Mark 6 Radio Removal

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a mark 6 ford fiesta from a neighbour. The radio needs resetting with a code due to the battery being replaced by the previous owner. I know that in many of these models holding 1 and 6 will provide the serial number to then get the code with, however mine doesn't provide the serial number when I perform this action (I have read this is a problem for a minority of the mark 6's). Forums state the next action is to remove the radio unit to see the serial number of the unit, however I am having issues. Two of the keys go in absolutely fine, one is a struggle but we get there, and the right bottom key won't go in at all. When I shine my torch in to the hole, I can see that the metal bracket that the key slots into has moved down, meaning it's no longer in line with the plastic slot of the face of the radio unit. I have wiggles and tried different angles but I cannot get the key in and therefore cannot remove the unit, and am not sure what to do. Has anyone had a similar issue or know of a solution? Thanks.

Do you have the handbook pack?  If so, definitely worth checking the code isn't written anywhere in there.

I can't think of another option without risking damage.  Best bet is just to keep trying to get that bottom key free.
