Fiesta Mk 8 ST - spacesaver spare

Featured Replies

A couple of recent threads on Mk 8 spare wheels reminded me of this question.

Most of the options have been dropped now, but previously the price lists gave the following information in respect of spares:

All models except ST - 14x5.5 wheel with 175/65R14 tyre

ST - 15x4 wheel with 175/65R14 tyre  (which surely cannot be correct)

I was in the local dealers the other day and asked the guy I usually deal with. He said as far as he could remember all the STs they'd ordered with a spare had been with the 14" tyre and thus, presumably,  14" wheel.

Wonder if anyone who has a Mk 8 ST with a factory spacesaver could have a glance sometime, and confirm what they actually have?

This is the space saver that i have for mine. I bought the car used but i believe it was specced from factory with one. Mine is 125/ 80 r15

Thanks Matthew. That makes more sense!

It’s only fitment over the front brakes that can be a problem on the ST. Worst case you’ll have to stick the spare on the back and rotate the good wheels. (Which you should really do anyway)

Thanks Alex. I think you gave this good advice on an earlier thread iirc.

Once again considering the ST before it's too late and my dealer is quite happy to swap my existing spare wheel/tools for the ST gunge and inflator so would probably do that if I go for it.

Was interested to clear up the anomaly in Ford's literature, though.

I moved from an st line x 140, to an ST and so glad I did, the st line is a great car but the ST is on another level.

Both of my brochures (Feb 14 Mk7 and Jan 19 Mk8) state the ST has 15" x 4" spare wheels, but don't actually the state tyre size.

The mk7 Studio (poverty spec) had 4 (plus spare) 14" steel wheels with 175/65R14 tyres as standard.

Yes, the tyre size was only mentioned on the Price List/Ordering guide which was obviously wrong. Strange that it never got corrected over the course of 4 years or so, and from what my dealer told me, it sounds like the dealer ordering guide was also wrong.

“The mk7 Studio (poverty spec) had 4 (plus spare) 14" steel wheels with 175/65R14 tyresas standard.”  Not just the studio, my 2015 1.5tdci style econetic diesel has the same. Econetic diesels had those tyres to reduce drag and they came with a spare of the same size as standard. I have no idea why they continued to supply a spare as standard on econetic diesels. But it’s handy that they did.
