Ford Focus Mk4 ST Line X - lumbar support

Featured Replies

Just got a 21 ST Line X. Does the drivers seat in the Mk4 have a particularly pronounced lumber support? I have set the electronic one to the lowest setting, but the area just above the adjustable part is really sticking into my back to the point its not comfortable to drive. I am going to see if I can sit in another one and spot any differences to see if the seat has a fault, but its at the point where I may just give the car back as I have 14 days to do so. Anyone had similar issues?

Try sitting in the passenger seat to do a comparison. Not sure the passenger seat has one, if it does, it's mechanical.

The passenger seat doesnt feel as bad. It doesnt have lumbar support that I can see. Its as though there is a horizontal bar that sticks out too far. It could well be where its meant to be and I just cannot live with it.

I have the same issue with the Vignale drivers seat.  Digs right into my back & kidneys.  I'm pretty scrawny though, it may been designed for a larger frame!

I have a 21 ST-Line X and exactly the same problem. Passenger seat seems fine but the drivers seat lumbar support seems to be stuck out. The lumbar support forward and back switch also doesn’t do anything. I’ve got it booked in to be looked at. I’m hoping it’s not just the design of the seat as you can’t drive it for more that 30 mins. Has anyone had this and managed to resolve it?

I'm 100% sure you do not have a 2025 Ford Year, perhaps you might like to check your profile details?

You’re correct I don’t have a 2025 model. Thank you for pointing out the obvious mistake though

I’ve had a mk4 since 2019. Lumbar support was never good , after a few months the same thing, button stopped working. Lucky though as it stuck in rather than sticking out. Had spinal fusion 25 years ago, please post the outcome…. Cheers.

Hello, sorry for digging this thread, but is there a chance any1 found a solution to stuck lumbar support mechanism? Mine got stuck recently, and I got only the clicking noise from the back of a seat. I have non st seat version with electronic lumbar steering.

I have to answer to myself by disassembling the whole pump. You have to get to the motor assembly which is located in the back of the seat. Take the attached motor apart and just loose the stuck motor axle.
