1.0 Ecoboost Vacuum Pump Advice

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Is there anyone on here with good knowledge of the vacuum pump on the 1.0 Ecoboost?

I changed the one way valve on mine, that feeds the turbo, because it had come apart (common issue) and when I removed it there was engine oil in the port coming from the vacuum pump. Is this normal? Or should I be changing the whole vacuum pump?

Hi Dave, I'm by no means any kind of expert on the Ecoboost vacuum pump.

I have seen a couple of videos of them been changed due to the failure of the one way valve and there was no signs of any engine oil, in fact I would say they looked very clean and dry.

Hello,

i am having the same issue here, i wil swap the sealing soon an need some info on fitting the pump back is there any fitting pisition to lookup ? As i see there is 1 bolt that has larger adjustable hole on it ,

Thanks

From my limited experience it's usual to see a small amount of oil in older pumps and I've read accounts of other people finding it there. The oilway (which is under oil pump pressure) is feeding the plain bearing in the pump, and in my case there was some oil passing into the chamber. I guess that is inevitable after a significant mileage.

When I fitted a new vacuum pump there was no free oil to be seen.

I have a theory that the silicone valves fail, not just of aging, but of too much oil being passed back at forth at the valve as it cycles during operation..

The pump/bolts will only fit in one position and the valve position makes that fairly obvious which way up it goes. Make sure you use a new gasket.

This is the sort of thing I found in my old vacuum pump. With the engine running and the valve removed small amounts of oil would spit out.

I ended buying a replacement from pumaspeed, and it fixed 100% of my vacuum problems
