rear speakers

Featured Replies

I have a 2012 ford fiesta basic model. I have installed rear speakers as the wiring for it is there , however no sound is coming out of these back speakers and there is no option on the radio to change this etc , the speakers do work as they are out of another fiesta.

Any advice ?

Is the wiring complete ? Often Ford will only install part of the wiring harness if the option (rear speakers) is not being installed.

Depending on your car and on the radio that is fitted it is very probable that the rear speakers will have to be enabled using FORScan.

Are there rear speaker wires in the plug in the back of the stereo?  Can you use a circuit tester to check continuity of the wires from there all the way to the speakers? Does radio have a fader setting to adjust balance between front and rear?

I only had the rear panels off in the back of the car , there was wiring there already for the speakers so just plugged them in presuming it would work ? how do i check to see if the wiring harness has been installed fully ?

thanks

the radio only has the fader option for the front left and right speakers not the back , as for speaker wires in the radio , how do i check this ?

You need to a multimeter and check for continuity of the wires from the back to the radio connector at the front.

in which case it can't provide any output to the rear speakers, sadly.

You need to reconfigure your audio unit (ACM) for 4 speaker system and it will work

how do i go about doing this ?

Sorry, yes, get a decent ELM cable (V-Linker or OBDLink EX) and FORSCAN software on your laptop.

Follow connection settings, connect to vehicle, select configuration and programming, then ACM and change from 2 speakers to 4 or 6 speakers

Tunnel rat electronics do the thing you plug in your obd socket. Many people on this forum have bought from them. Forscan software is free for windows and about six quid for Apple/android.

Note that you can not do programming using the phone version of FORScan.

It is possible of course to read all DTC's the same as the windows version, and carry out simple maintenance procedures like resetting the oil life service indicator or clearing a trouble code.
