changing the media unit

Featured Replies

my little sync 1 media unit for my fiesta st3 2016 has gone faulty. Ford quoted me £1,200 to replace it 😮

would it be possible to just buy a second hand one for £275 online and fit it myself? surely just swapping the unit isn't to hard to do. Anything I need to watch out for?

Physically and electrically so long as the replacement is an identical model the the swap will be quite easy. However !!!

You will need to use FORScan to programme the replacement in to your car.

So to confirm, if I brought this:

it would work for my car? Only concern I see for this one is that it says ST2 where as mine is ST3.

Thanks for the comment!

That is only the display, not the APIM unit.

What is the fault that you have ?

Is the radio working as normal but you just can't see it OR is the radio dead ?

The screen don’t display at all, ford said the unit is faulty. I guess I would need more than a screen?

Depending on the answer to the above question determines whether you need a screen or you need other modules

Have you checked the fuse for the infotainment system ?

I took the vehicle to ford and all they said was is that I need a new unit which is £1,200. I am not really savvy with this stuff sorry! I am going to presume I need to buy a new unit and not just the screen.
