Mk 7 Fiesta Drivers electric window and electric mirrors stopped working

Featured Replies

Hi, i hope that someone can help me with this. My drivers window suddenly stopped working - stuck down. The electric mirrors have also stopped working.

The manual does not mention a fuse for either but i have checked every fuse on the car and they are all good.

Can anyone tell me if there is a relay at fault or the switch itself is faulty.

Thanks Guys

It's not a relay.  Either the door module has failed, the switch pack has failed, or there's a wiring fault.

First step would be to pop out the switch pack and see if you're getting a 12v feed to it.

Hi Tom, thank you for your quick reply. I have got 12v at the switch plug so i guess its either the switch or module. I will order both (used) from ebay to cover both options. I will let you know how it goes.

Oh, Sorry i forgot to ask, is the door module actually in the door? Apologies if its a daft question.

Hi John,

things are never quite as easy as they first appear. It depends on whether you have a 3 door or a 5 door, and if the answer is 5 door, it further depends on whether you have manual or electric rear windows.

If your model has only front electric windows then they are directly controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) which is part of the passenger compartment fuse box. It is known on quite a number of models of having water ingress problems and suffering from corrosion to both the connector pins and the actual tracks of the BCM.

If you have a 5 door model with the electric windows in the rear, then you will have a door control module, which is inside the drivers door.

Hi, Its a 5 door but only has electric front windows. I have checked the 3 pin plug to the switch and i have got constant live at 2 of the pins so i am hoping it is just the switch. I have ordered a used one from ebay. If its not that then i think maybe its a job for an auto electrician. thank you for your help.

Thank you

Hi just had exactly same fault on 2010 fiesta , I found fuse number 26 for power fold mirrors was blown 7.5 A , even though mine doesn’t have power folding mirrors . Once replaced the drivers window and mirrors worked perfectly , hope this helps.

It might be of help to others in the future but the last two posters have vanished 🤣

I’ve got this exact problem, put the drivers window down and it stayed down, wouldn’t go up and the mirror adjuster stopped working too. I’ve checked all related fuses and used a drill battery with two wires onto the window motor terminals to put the window back up and it also goes down so that rules out the motor as the issue.
The window switch is getting power as I’ve found the 12V feed wire and also the ones for the passenger window which when operated they provide a voltage but the two for the drivers window when operated don’t show any readings, tried a new switch just to make sure, no different, the switch seems to be okay.
I’m really scratching my head with this one. Does anyone know of a possible fix for this?

Thanks in advance :)

Sure you'll get sorted here

,I'm hoping so as I've recently got a 2015 fiesta and am saving some of  these problems ppl  are having on older models as I'm sure I'll be having similar in the future,

And by saving them at least I'll have a reference,

I'm relatively new here but browse ppls woes daily and find knowledgeable folk on here normally have solutions

Good luck with it

Common cause is the switch I’ve had this issue for ages i decided to check live feed from switch today and there’s none but all the wires / pins are reporting live feed Incase anyone else comes across this issue it’s worth checking this switch first I already replaced fuses and mirrors thinking it was them repaired slight damage to wires in passanger side door loom but in the end the switch replacement fixed it for me

I tell a lie the switch tempoary fixed it but it’s happens again I give up still not fixed replaced mirror switch / door switch / mirrors and still the same

Hi, I have a similar issue.

Both my power folding mirrors stopped working simultaneously as my driver's window stopped. Replacing the fuse in the engine compartment fixed the driver's window but not the power folding mirrors they stayed in position.

I then manually pushed them in, attempting to reset them as I read it may need to be done after a blown fuse to get them going again however, this had blown the fuse again for the driver's window/mirrors.

Does anyone have an idea of the cause of this? I had already replaced one mirror over a year ago so I know it is a fiddly process so if anyone has a suggestion it could be before I replace both mirrors.

cheers
