Fiesta 2006 1.4 petrol engine compatibility

Featured Replies

So my 1.4 petrol 2006 head gasket has gone and I’m looking to get a new engine for it.

the engine code is FXJA, I’ve found an engine for a good price off of a 2003, however I’m wondering if there is any differences due to this engine being from a pre-facelift model?

will this engine just fit into my ecu or will I need the 2003 wiring

thanks

Jack

If it's the same code it will be OK, just use your ancillaries

I'm wondering if it's really a better option to risk buying a 20 year old replacement instead of changing the headgasket on yours?  Does the replacement come with service history & a recent cambelt change?

Are you doing the work yourself?  I would at least take head off old engine to see if it looks like new gasket will do it or if there is visible damage.  I had head gasket go on Volvo 244.  The alluminium head had corroded away between combustion chamber and water galleries.  I had it welded to repair it. Fine afterwards but I don’t know where you’d find a workshop these days to do that sort of work. They seem to have all gone as no one thinks of repairing anything these days. I assume the fiesta head is Aluminium and ought to be skimmed.
