Fiesta no coms with BCM, PCM

Featured Replies

Hi guys, have a problem with a 2009 fiesta been parked up for about 2 year took the battery off and charged it up and put some fresh petrol in it. Took a bit of swinging to get it going but it started. But its running in limp mode and have no coms with any of the major control systems. I tried to take it for a short drive but it will only drive about 500 yards and die. Any insight or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Instrument Cluster is most probable.

It's the right age and the right model for the solder joints on the instrument cluster to start falling apart. Just give the top of the dashboard a good thump with your hand just above the IC and see if anything changes.

Agreed. Unleaded solder is brittle and ages. I've seen more dry joints in the last five years than I have in the previous forty. I really should start soldering them up again for people with good tin/lead solder.
