Help - Key stuck in ignition after breakin..

Featured Replies

Hi All, I really need your help. I've got a 2014 mk6 1.0 auto fiesta. Someone broke into the car and damaged the steering/ignition area and when we put the key back in the ignition it won't unlock the steering or start the car - to top it off, the key is now stuck in the ignition. It's a real mess and I don't know where to start. I'm thinking I might have to get the car transported to a ford garage to get them to look at it. Any ideas on the steps I could take to try and get it working without the expense of getting it towed etc? Thanks..

I can only really think of getting  a power drill and trying to drill down into the key barrel. Have you got a spare key in case you destroy the key stuck in there? If you do destroy the key, don’t throw the whole thing away as the plastic bit can still be used on a new blade and it’s got your immobiliser chip in it. As long as you only drill the key barrel I don’t think you have a lot to lose at this point (if you have a spare key)

is the gear selector in park, you say its an automatic, if for some stupid reason i dont put in park i cant get the key out.
