1.0 ecoboost non start, no codes

Featured Replies

Just replaced the timing belt on a 2013 1.0 ecoboost.

Now back together, it will crank but not start.  It will try and catch and stall the starter motor as the starter motor is cranking away.

Before I removed the old belt, I rotated the engine so that the flats on the camshafts were lined up ready for the locking tools. I then fitted the crank locating pin at the rear of the engine and settled the crank rotation so that the locating pin was properly seated. It fitted the camshaft locking tools and also locked the flywheel using the tool that bolts to the starter motor holes. I then replaced the belt.

I say all this because if feels as if the timing is 180 degrees out when I try to start.

I have replaced the crank sensor.

Anyone any thoughts?

Try putting the old Crank Sensor back in or if you have FORScan or something else that can read Live Data, bring up RPM and anything else relevant and see what it says while cranking.

I think I know what I haven't done......

Stupid me, I didn't put the locating pin in the crank pulley when I tightened it. No wonder I felt it was out of time.

Luckily I had a spare new crank bolt and friction washer and did it properly this time.

Runs OK now.

Sorry to waste folks time
