Boost gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Senior Management (aka the wife) drives a 19 reg 1.0 ecoboost 140.   It has a turbo but no boost gauge.  I'd like to fit one but have no idea where or how to tap into the system for the vac line.  Anybody done this and can advise?

Thanks

I don't know why you would want to and it won't tell you much if you do. Modern turbos are managed in a much more sophisticated way than the old fashioned turbo meaning boost pressure doesn't tell you much at all. Read this for enlightenment

I agree with the above, the actual boost pressure is almost non existent and sits flat almost all the time and she is likely to be disappointed with what she sees.

Before spending a lot of money you could get a Wireless Adaptor and download either the Torque or FORScan App and have a look at what you will see with a Gauge.

If she still wants a Gauge after that then someone might do one that works Electronically like the Apps, which is probably how a Factory fitted Gauge would work rather than one that is Plumbed in.

Thanks agraham (for the link) and Tizer.  Just asked because I'm so used to seeing the gauge on the Focus ST respond to the boot, thought it might be useful on the Fez.

That was the most exciting gauge I had in my Celica GT4! Certainly related to the loud pedal...
