Rear Windscreen Wiper Issues MK5

Featured Replies

Hi All, noticed a few days ago that my rear windscreen wiper doesn't seem to stay on the glass, and only actually clears the top third of the windscreen now rather than the full semi circle like it used to. Has anyone got any ideas/fixes?

I have had this happen before and buying some new blades did fix it, but given its come back again, i'm wondering if the spring in the wiper arm has gone or similar, therefore the arm isn't able to stay pressured on the window.

Any advice would be appreciated.

My guess would be that the nut that securely holds the arm on to the shaft has started to be come loose.

Or the spring pivot is corroded and stiff.  Lift the arm away from glass, does it spring back to the glass quick and freely. If not, spray some wd40 around the pivot and keep moving the arm on and off the glass to work the wd40 in until it moves freely.   This assumes the spring is still in place and hasn’t come off /broke

Thanks for the WD40 tip. Sorted it out now 🙂
