1st query - 2010 Titanium bluetooth control module

Featured Replies

New to the forum/club, so also saying "Hello" here👋, as well as asking a question.

So it appears my bluetooth module has finally given up the ghost!  It's been on and off dodgy for quite a while now but seems to have finally died a death.  Basically I've had the wiring harness to it off, then back on, around 2 or 3 times.  This was with the ignition both on and off also.  When this made no difference I also pulled the fuse a few times, again with ignition on and off, no joy.

According to what I've read on a Google search, both of these things should reset the module.  The car is still showing my current phone, but won't debond, nor can I turn off bluetooth, the tick in the options comes back after a millisecond.  I also get an "activation failed" message if I try that via the options.  My phone does not see Ford Audio as a device to pair with.

So there are plenty of these modules on eBay, but fairly expensive.  My query comes here - I've seen someone selling the identical looking module to mine but for a Focus and for around a tenner less than the cheapest Fiesta one.  His listing says the Part No has to be the same, which I assume is supposed to mean that if I buy a module, it has to be the exact same Part No as what is in my car.  Does anyone know whether this is actually the case?  Are these units somehow coded that they "know" which model Ford they are in?  I did try to get hold of my local dealer's parts dept, but they didn't answer the phone or call me back.

Cheers for any help and advice🙂

The model of the bluetooth unit does need to be the same. They have different firmware to work with the different radios fitted.

The very last two letters of the part code can sometimes be different as one of the letters is just the software version the other I'm not certain but maybe a date code.

Lovely job, thanks for the quick reply👍.  I did notice the last two letters being different, even on the ones that matched my part number.  I'll see what I can find, thanks again.

Just a quick update, I found a matching part numbered unit, from a Focus actually, and I have BT👍👍

The odd thing is that the USB fitting in the unit is different to my old one.  The Focus unit uses the old mini USB, female in the unit.  My old unit has a rectangular "contact blade" style fitting, male in the unit.

It's all good though as I didn't hardly use the USB anyway.  At least my hands free is back🙌.

ALL  of the part number needs to be the same

EG

AH52 12345 CA

must be replaced with AH52 12345 CA or CB or CC etc

The AH52 must match and all bluetooth modules will be 12345

Ah ok, well thanks for the info, at least if I have to get another one I'll know👍
