ECO Mode

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am sure on one of my last two Fiesta if I put the car into ECO mode the next time I used it it would still be in ECO mode. My new 2023 model doesn't do that, if I use it in ECO mode next time I use it it is in normal mode. Is there a way to get it to stay in ECO mode on a restart. apart from having to press the button twice? It might seem a strange request but us oldies just driving around town or cruising 150 miles down the motorway to see the great grandkids ECO ts ideal. Any help with this gratefully received.

Yes, on my current car it stays in whichever mode is selected but it only has Normal and Eco.

Latest cars have several modes - Sport, Normal, Eco plus Slippery (on Active) and Track (on ST) and revert to Normal every restart as below. (I have seen gadgets mentioned which automatically cancel start/stop but never anything for altering the default drive mode.)

NORMAL

Lane Assist  Vehicle settings suited for balanced driving.
Note:   This is the default mode each time you switch the ignition on.

Same 'gadget' also sets the drive mode to remember what you set it for 😀

I did have mine set for a few months to always automatically select Sport mode, but found it was too responsive in slow traffic around town.

I think in earlier posts we were discussing disabling start/stop - didn't spot that it worked on modes as well!😃

Does seem to require a fair bit of electrical competence though (no problem to a chap like you, I'd be sure to do damage!).

I'm sure I've seen one somewhere where you simply pulled the connector off the back of the switch, plugged the "gadget" in to the switch, then put the connector back on the "gadget" so it was "piggy backed" onto the switch. B*ggered if I can find it now, though, might have been a US thing?

In fairness they are actually very quick and easy to fit. There are only a total of 4 wires if I remember correctly. You connect 3 of them directly to the wires at the back of the switches and the 4 is to an ignition switched live.

I think the reason that it doesn't have a piggy back style connector is the designer was trying to make it usable on as many different models as possible.

I'm available to offer a fitting service for a small fee 😉

Yes, the information sheets probably make it look harder than it really is! I think I'd still be wary of hard wiring something into a brand new car though.

Thanks for your comments. It looks like pressing the button twice after starting the engine from now on.

I've got into the habit of pressing the mode button three times (to activate Sport) followed by a single press of the start/stop button (to turn it back on) once I've started the car.

I sure there will be a hidden setting buried deep in the coding which gets it to remember the mode...maybe forscan will find it and allow it to be set on a future software version.
