STYLE + 1.25 WITH "S" KIT

Featured Replies

got a 2009 style + and wondered if we put a zetec s kit and wheels on will the insurance go up too much ? as any one done it ?  cheers

Does your insurer have an online policy management system?  If so, you can get a quote to see exactly how much it'll be.  Price change for that mod is probably going to be more to do with the driver and the area than the car.

Back in my younger days when I messed around with my cars more, I was often surprised at how little extra I was quoted for mods like different carbs, exhausts, wheels, suspension, etc.

Yes, as Tom suggests, it can be more about the driver than the mods (though a full body kit could add to repair costs and thus, premium). Insurers are getting rather sneaky these days, and I've seen numerous suggestions on "financial expert" type sites that merely asking the question about mods can sometimes lead to you being considered a higher risk.

I would question the value of doing such mods though. Done properly, a full body kit painted to match, plus appropriate suspension, wheels, tyres is going to be pretty expensive for a cosmetic change.

We had a 1.25 Mk 7 for some years as a second car and standard suspension and tyres (190/50 x15) in good condition were more than adequate for the available performance, even when driven "enthusiastically" .
