-Grab the front 1/3 of the centre console plastic trim just behind the gearstick gaiter & pull it up to lift off the full trim piece
-Turn the gearstick knob anticlockwise until it comes off
-Remove the full gearstick assembly

-Unfasten the 2 scrivet clips each side of the rear centre console (adjacent to the rear cup holder) (Turn the each screw whilst applying no forward force as this pushes the screw back in - Pry the clip off once you have removed the screw)
-Pull the rear third of the centre console up and out
-Now pull the middle section of the centre console up & back to pop it off (You do not need to fully remove it)
-Now grab the plastic handbrake cover and pull it off over the handbrake
-If the handbrake cover is stuck on then heat it up with a hairdryer or a low powered heat gun to melt the glue

-Now put a deep 10mm socket & long extension bar over the handbrake adjustment screw that is located towards the front of the handbrake
-Turn the nut clockwise to tighten the handbrake cable tension and turn the nut anticlockwise to loosen the handbrake cable tension
-Set the handbrake so that you can just about get 5 clicks at maximum lift

-Put the handbrake cover back on
-Clip the middle trim back into place
-Clip the rear trim back into place
-Put the 2 rear scrivet clips back in
-Tighten the gearstick knob back down
-Clip the front trim back into place
