ford fiesta freedom 2006 dashboard removal

Featured Replies

hi eveyone

does anyone know how to remove the entire dashboard plastics and dials vets etc

isit an easy process

what tools would i need

thanks for reading

Dials and vents are easy enough.  But if you mean the entire the dashboard, as in the whole thing from one side of the car to the other, that's on another level.

If you truly mean the entire dashboard (cockpit assembly) then it's not something to tackle without prior experience and an extensive toolkit. If you are looking at replacing parts of it, for example the radio then there are loads of YouTube videos that will help. See the example below:

Hello. A 2014 Fiesta Titanium. Loses mileage reading and external temperature. Mum bangs top of dashboard (told now not to!) and it comes back.

Then goes again

Loose connection it seems?

What might be involved to remedy?

Appreciate some dashboard removal may be required!

Comments appreciated.

Very common fault on a number of models, and yes the test is to thump the top of the instrument cluster 🤣

The solder that was used on many instrument clusters was lead free (helps save the planet !) and as the vehicle gets older the solder becomes brittle and the joints become high resistance causing many random intermittent faults.

You need to remove the IC from the dashboard and send it a a company that will re-solder all the joints of the IC. It is a bit of a fiddly job as the pointers have to be removed and put back in exactly the right place when the job is done. Just use Google or look on eBay for companies advertising instrument cluster repairs. Expect to pay about £90 and usually a turn around of 3 days.
