LIVE TRAFFIC

Featured Replies

hi everybody

new to the site and ford.have new active x .

told by dealer sync 3 been updated including live traffic.

on a couple of journeys over the weekend i came to road works with

25 minuet delay, and a accident that had happened above three hours

ago,but i never received any notification of the delays from navigation even though i had

put the route in.just how much information  are you informed of from navigation

with sync 3

thanks jim

Check your Settings, it is in Connectivity Settings in my slightly older car from memory.

There should be a symbol in the top right of the Screen a few minutes after starting if it is enabled and working.

It should have picked that up and warned or re-routed you.

thanks john

not to technical.how do i enable it,or set it up.

Assuming your car has Sync 3 and not the later Sync 4, if you go to Settings in your Sync Screen and find Connectivity Settings, it should be there, the fourth one down on my car.

You may need the Ford Pass App for it to work, I'm not sure.

If you are not very Tech savvy then I'm sure your Dealer will be happy to set things up for you without charging, don't be afraid to ask, one of the Sales Staff should spend 5 minutes doing it for you.

If you click on this link it will tell you a bit about Sync 3, and the second link is about Live Traffic. You can see from the photo that Settings is along the bottom of the Screen, and you need to slide the first page sideways to get the second page of the Settings.

This link is for Live Traffic.

Ford Pass is an App that you download onto a Smart Phone and pair the phone with your car. I find it very useful but a lot of people do not like it. I think you do need it for Live Traffic but I'm not certain, I haven't read all the link above.

If you do install Ford Pass on your phone then write down your username and Password somewhere, you may need it if you ever have to do a reset of your Sync system or phone.

On the top margin of the screen at the right hand side there should be some arrows and triangles if Connectivity Settings is enabled and maybe some vertical lines if your phone is connected as well.

If Live Traffic is working then immediately below the above and as part of the Navigation screen there will be what looks like 3 cars in a queue as if you were looking at them from the side, i.e. you only see part of the rear ones and from memory I think there are some arrows there too.

This can take a minute or so to appear after starting the car, the symbols along the very top appear almost Immediately after starting though.

Seems that Live Traffic is free for the first 12months, and then costs £3.99 per month thereafter. If the car is over 12 months old, theres no information how you would subscribe. I checked my Ford Pass App, but its got very little information on it, and nothing about subscriptions.

It is activated by going online and logging in to your Ford account:

I have no subscriptions available showing on my account.

Contacted Ford about my lack of options for Live Traffic, this was the reply...

Good Evening

I hope this email finds you well and thank you for your email

I have checked and your vehicle does not have a modem hen ce you will not be able to use Live Traffic or any connectivity features sin ce around June time last year as Ford have removed Applink, which was a way for modemless vehicles to connect to Fordpass.

I am sorry about this, would you be happy to close this case ?

That's very unfortunate. I didn't realise that the discontinuation of Applink would have such knock on effects.
