2Nd Hand 1.6 Diesel

Featured Replies

Hi

Im looking to buy a 3door fiesta. Ive been in contact with my dealer for a log time and none really come up in the spec I want, and loads of 1.25l come up.

Today a red 3door Zetec 1.6 TDCi came up for £8000! Nice I thought, but Its got 50k on the clock!!

How reliable are these engines?

it wont even be ran in properly yet, diesels last forever if looked after, its the rest of the car you should be worried about.

what year is it?

09 year.

Not ran in properly at 50k? Im worried its been like a fleet car and been thrashed!

I thought my 09 was high at 25k.

Thats almost 1000 miles a week,or 200 miles a day on a 5 day week,sounds like a delivery driver or courier car.

Just found this on autotrader, seems the same model as you have been offered but 25k miles at 8245

Im thinking I should give this one a miss then?

yea thats seriously high milage in such a short time! i would avoid like the plague

A quick search on fordonline shows you could get a 1.2 or a 1.4 for that price with low mileage. You might be able to do a better search and find a 1.6 with much lower miles on the clock than 50k.

1.2 with ~5000 miles:

1.4 with ~12,000 miles

If you really want a 1.6 with low miles then this one looks good, but slightly more expensive:

ZETEC S 1.6 TDCI £9999 with 2,300 miles

Right Ive brought a Fiesta 3dr silver Zetec 1.4 diesel. Only delivery milage on her 59plate.

Is the 1,4 diesel a good engine?

Yes if you look after it. Stick to the correct 5w-30 oil not the usual thick rubbish (15w-40 old chugger diesel poo)

What i mean is if you really want to keep it forever change the oil twice a year and filter and use quality diesel
