Fiesta 1.4 Tdci Loss of power. Code PO236

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. My daughter has a Fiesta 1.4 Tdci, 2006 and she has a bit of a problem with it that I hope you knowledgable folks may be able to help me with. (Many thanks in advance !). I will try to describe the symptoms as clearly as possible.

Only fault code picked up is P0236.

OK, the car starts, probably cranks for 3-4 seconds from stone cold.
The engine ticks over normally and revs normally.
After maybe 1.5 - 2 miles it suffers from a dramatic loss of power but does not cut out. It then picks up again, loses power, picks up etc etc. It is borderline undriveable !.
When it loses power a yellow/orange warning light flickers on and off. The warning light is like a thin gear cog with an explaination mark inside it. (cant find this in the hand book but assume it to be an engine management warning light).

I assume from the code it is a fault with the Turbo boost sensor or associated wiring but can anyone tell me where this thing is as I`m damned if I can find it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The normal website that we get info from is down (based in Russia). This video is a Focus but gives you the general idea. You really need to use FORScan software on a laptop and that will help narrow down which sensor is causing the problem.
