sync 3 update

Featured Replies

hi

could some one please tell me do you need ignition on,or engine running

when updating software on sync 3.will it update with none of these on.

updating with Wi-Fi .does the maps update automatic when your software is up to date.

thanks jim

If you are updating using WiFi connected for example to your home router then the car will just update when it's parked. No need for ignition to be on. It can take a couple of days but it will just download as and when it can.

That's the age old "how long is a piece of string" question 🤔

  • It depends on what file is being downloaded and how big is it.
  • How fast is the WiFi connection is, and how fast is the router connection to the internet is.
  • How busy are the Ford servers.

It could take as little as an hour or two, or it might take a day or two.

I'm very fortunate that my car is just outside from my WiFi connection and I have full fibre internet. I never really notice when my car has downloaded /updated unless sometimes when I switch on the ignition there is a delay in the Sync3 screen turning on.

thanks.what is the latest software update

my sync 3 says 3.4 22110,i have read somewhere

it says latest is 3.4 22200

will you please confirm.

also what is the latest map update,

my screen says map update available but need

to update software first.

grateful if anyone knows the answers.

you would think with brand new car everything would be up to date

thanks jim

I had F10 maps via Cyanlabs.

Hi Jim

Yes 3.4.22200 is the latest update. You can also update your system via a usb stick. If you go to https://www.ford.co.uk/support/sync-maps-updates#/ you can get that update there along with the instructions on how to do it. A 8Gb usb stick should be big enough. Your car being new should have maps F11 already on it as it is new. Mine built Oct 2022 came with F11 installed and that is the latest map update.

You can't use Cyanlabs on a 2023 car it will brick it

Thats a bit of a bummer Tiexen. Some of us are having trouble uploading the log file after updating to 3.4.22200. Looks like I will now be stuck on that and maps F11. Any idea why CyanLabs is causing a problem or is it Ford getting an umpty on because CyanLabs is a better system.

Cyanlabs uses a leaked factory reformat tool which is not compatible and will brick MY20 onwards APIM.

You can use cyanlabs in a different mode that doesn't use the reformat tool on MY20+ cars. It basically builds a normal update, like the ones Ford offers.

The cyanlabs tool is just a UI for putting an update together that's possible to do yourself. They don't host the files the links are out there to do it manually. It's how people used to do it and how I still do it as I like control over what's being done/loaded to my car.

I have nothing against Cyanlabs, my only concern is that it's easier to make irreversible changes and despite the authors best efforts, people continue to not read all of the warnings and information they've provided.

I never use the reformat tool, it's only used because wiping and loading the software from fresh is faster than an inplace upgrade while Sync is running.

It has 2 system partitions and switches between updates, so it's safer to not use the reformat tool as if a normal update fails it still has the old software to carry on with.

Thanks for that Alex, will look into it.

John

Ok Tim. Looked into my setup today and there is no way of showing in car temperature. On mine the Sync screen shows outside temp at upper centre of screen and selected temp at upper right of screen. As for Live Traffic, I have that showing as active in upper right of screen, three cars and two opposing arrows. If you select settings in Sync and select Fordpass icon and then connectivity it shows the option of Live Traffic on/off. I believe you also have to have Fordpass setup and activated for your car on your mobile phone. John
