Powershift transmission issue

I have a 2018 s max St line 210hp powershift. I lost reverse gear 1st then now 5th. I got transmission limited function on the dash. I am now occasionally getting parking assist and hillstart assist malfunction. Changed the oil and filter but it's still the same any ideas. It done 90k. Thanks lee

    Hi Lee,

    A bit of searching on here would find you the answers as this gets asked a lot.

    But:

    Number 1 issue is power. If the battery is on the way out, it will cause all sorts off issues.

    Powershift relies on power only, there is no LIMP or LOS in the TCM

    Also, good earthing points are just as important, ensure every earthing point for the transmission, plus the main battery earth to the body is clean.

    Number 2 issue is communications issues, these are mainly caused by broken CAN wires from the TCM to the transmission. Ensure there are no broken wires. S-Max/Galaxy suffers on the large multi-connector in the LH front wheel arch.

    Do all of this before you start spending money on gearbox internals

    Get FORSCAN and a decent lead and check the DTCs

    Check the voltage of your car battery with a multimeter. If it is less than 12.32V after standing overnight then it needs charged.

    The gearbox is very sensitive to low battery voltage, as is Hill Start, and Park assist.
