Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI will not start

Featured Replies

My Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI will not start, the problem started when I had been parked for a short while and the car would not restart.  I had to get it picked up and brought home.  I thought the fuel filter was blocked and so changed it but still it will not start, I have removed the air box and noticed it was pulling air into the fuel line when I pumped the priming bulb.  I have fitted a new set of fuel lines and cleared all the air out but it will not start.  I have tried starting it with Easy Start, it will fire up for a few seconds but then cuts out.  I think the glow plugs may be shot but it should start with the spray.  The car has done over 200,000 miles so I guess it is on it`s way out but it was running fine before all this started.  I wonder if anyone on here has any knowledge or has had a similar problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thing I would do is read any faults on a obd scanner

I have the same car but a 1.6d 190.000 plus miles and struggling with mine aswell

Sounds like the HP pump might just not be able to maintain enough pressure at 200k.

As above, you'll need diags to avoid throwing more parts at it.  First check for any fault codes.  Then watch live diags to see the actual fuel pressure.

Thanks Tom, will do.

Also change the fuel filter. If its clogged then no start and more pressure on the pump
