Ford fiesta st-2 loss of power/limp mode

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has ran into this problem or could help me out, so about a month ago I was driving home on the motorway, put my foot down to overtake and the car just lost power. It went into limp mode and wouldn’t boost past 3psi, when I turned the car off and on again it was all back to normal with no lights on the dash, when the car isn’t in limp mode it won’t boost past 10psi in any gear. I took it into my local garage to do a read for any codes and the ones below came up, I’ve since been to 3 garages in my area and none of them can help with boost related issues so I’m just coming here to cry for help.BBCA5CA2-870E-4D3A-8F8A-18722C08562D.thumb.jpeg.cdc95b7b25c955d5beb8427249f50f32.jpeg

Has anything been checked or changed at the garages?

Cam & crank sync is the first one I'd be looking at.  Assuming the cambelt hasn't slipped, it can only be either the crank sensor, cam sensor or the VCT mechanism.

Boost performance could be an affect of the above.  Or it could be a boost leak (split/loose hose).  Or a faulty boost solenoid/vac piping.

Hi mate, yes sorry I forgot to mention, the actuator got changed out and that has made no difference so the garage thinks it must be the boost solenoid, but I don’t really want to throw money at it if they are not certain that’s the problem, I’ve got it booked in to a garage on Saturday so hopefully they can sort somthing

Are you laying down to post these pictures? :whistling:

Looks like they spent a lot of time breaking pipes instead of just replacing the boost solenoid?
