Hello all

Wondering if anyone can offer any advice. Ford Fiesta 15 plate 1.25 Zetec has recently been feeling rough when cold. Starts fine and revs around 1000 after a few seconds the revvs are jumping up and down probably 800 to 1200 when stationary. It feels rough driving when cold, feels fine and smooth when warm. If I clutch then brake at slow speeds the rev counter will jump right up to 2000 rpm and drop slowly. Few noises I've never heard before.

    Hi I don’t know but the guys here will have good advice. My Zetec is high RPM cold start and vibrations. Similar problem. See if any mechanics will do a free diagnostic test but most charge and Ford charge lots. Or ask mechanic to test drive it from cold start. Fords Bristol st motors looking at mine again Thursday. If you get a diagnosis before me let me know please.

    Spoke to a mechanic I know today who said its one of two things, failing plug or air mass sensor. Getting it booked in at a garage to see for definite. I'll keep you updated

    Plugs and leads first

    Then clean the throttle body and the MAF.

    Check air cleaner is clean and dry

    When was it serviced last?

    Last serviced in July 22 and I've had it serviced every year since I had it in 2019. I'm getting it looked at tomorrow, will update
