ABS light on after starting car on a lift

Featured Replies

This weekend i had my ford fiesta mk7 on a lift and did some work on the exuast. while i did this, i started my engine while i was still in the air to check for leaks. after i was done, the abs light was iluminated and according to my obd2 scanner every single wheel sensor was faulty plus the abs control module.

have anyone ever experienced something similar? how do i resolve this?

these are the fault codes i got at the same time; C0031 (left front wheel speed sensor), C0037 (Left rear wheel speed sensor), C003A Right rear wheel speed sensor. U0401 (invalid data from ECM), U0415 (invalid data received from ABS control module) and U0423 (invalid data recieved from instrument panel cluster

The wheels probably all moved independently while up on the ramp.  Sensors work on millimetre tolerances and a expect every wheel to move in the same direction at the same time, for example.

Once the codes are cleared and the car is driven it should be fine.

The light should really go off once it's driven without the need to clear any codes.  Similar to when they use rollers to brake test during an MOT.

I ran my car on a rolling road once, the rear wheels were stationary but fronts moving, dropped into limp mode and had ABS & ASR faults by the time I'd done.  Limp mode did not help my torque figure lol!
