Fitting A Sub

Featured Replies

Hi all

Got a 10 plate MK7 Zetec, thinking of getting one of those Subs which fits under the passenger seat, im pretty sure Ford do these officially too

Any one had the ford one installed or installed it them selves? If so was it any good? Are cables already there or will it all need cabling? Also would i need a amp or anything or can it go direct into the head unit?

Is it also worth upgrading the standard speakers at the same time?

Thanks =]

Marc

Ive got a 150W(Max) Pioneer Underseat Sub in my car. Il drag up the topic with my ideas and info on it.

Got it fitted by ford as I wanted a proper job doing. Makes a massive difference inside the car. Havve to have ignition on to power amp(thats how ford fitted it I didnt ask specifics) The sub I have deals with all the bass I throw at it really well top 40, dubstep, rnb, heavy rock, metal etc anything really withhout feeling like its missing bass. Goes much lower than my pretty good 2.1 PC speakers and the standard ford speakers seem to do fine with it, I thought there pretty good to start with, figure I can upgrade if I want to later

Bass is cut after between 17 and 19 but still sounds good. any more than that isnt really worth it.

Cheers for that, where would the amp have to go?

Also how much was all the parts needed and apart from the Sub obviously, what other parts would i need?

Thanks for the advice!

EDIT: The amp is built in, I have a wired remote velcroed below/side of the centre of dash near wheel(will take pics if requested) so I can control the Gain and frequency response and the reverb on/off(my preferences is max,max and reverb on, otherwise it doesnt sound as full in my opinion)

If you could get some piccys that would be very much appreciated!

i been looking at under seat bad boys :) best i seen as of yet is a 600 watt under seat sub with amp pre built for 100 and abit quid... whats the sound like??? not odd with the sub being one sided etc etc :) would like too know as i dont want an idiot box in the boot but want that bang for the dubstep... misses it really the stock set up :(

Mine sounds great. If you fancy a drive nico where having a meet in leeds 14th august :) Can come and have a listen.

Bass isnt directional as far as I know, obvs its felt alot more if your the passenger(it beeing 4 inches under you. mixed "reviews" from women that have been in the car some like it(Can you guess what ones...) and some are scared to like it so they sit on the side of the door ;) But it doesnt sound odd, or off.

Via messing with the fading and L/R I have assertained its wired into the rear speakers.but if yours only have the ffronts I see no reason it wouldnt be wireable to them.

My 150W was about £140. So 600W for £100, just check out reviews on it see what other have to say. Sometimes you pay for what you get. I know I had a look at one that was quite large wattage but alot said it was great but it burned out and was broken very quickly.

Hi Jason,

Is: http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/25/131/201/TS-WX11A/index.html the kind of thing you have?

How would i go about making it secure under the seat, does it come with brackets of some sort?

yeah thats my worry if i being honest... i just think i need that extra bang to come from somewhere! and i will look into coming then me dear :)

just out of curiosity, why the passenger seat ? surely under the drivers seat would be best ?

but what if it starts P..... you off when your driving? i was gonna look at getting 2 :P that would sound the something or other

and another quick thing... tha pio sub from most retailers is lookin around 170 quid! look at halfords and tha is before they ask to scam you and fit it

Comes with fixing brackets. I think it involes drilling(hence why I left it to the dealers!)

I belived it could be put under ethier, but it would serve as more of a distraction for the driver I'd Imagine, females espesh aha.

I ebayed mine for 140/150 fitting from ford cant remeber, about £70 check my thread il of probs put it in that.
