Car alarm + Bonnet Open message

Featured Replies

My car alarm seems to go off at random times of the day and ***** night....

I've noticed that the 'Bonnet Open' message also comes on intermittently when I'm driving, so I am having a bit of a gamble and assuming that the bonnet is setting the alarm off?

Anyone know what the underlying part is to fix this fault?

check the wiring to the release or solenoid

Not a gamble - a certainty!

Have a look at the switch itself first - might be loose, out of adjustment, broken, or have a loose electrical connection at the switch.

Then look at wiring etc. if necessary.

Often requires a new bonnet latch to solve this if nothing obvious with the wiring.

Bridge across the wires to bonnet catch

well atm, I've been trying to just put off doing the swap aha... I gave the latch and sensor a real good clean up with some WD40 and a wirebrush, then recoated WD40 after to keep it lubed 🙂 thankfully that has worked for the time being and had no more issues. Fingers crossed... but if it happens again, ill just change it
