Afternoon all,

Over the weekend, I bought a 2014 fiesta 1ltd ecoboost Zetec S, and I absolutely love it!

However, since getting home, my extremely nosey neighbours have told me that this engine is appalling and should have avoided it at all costs!

I’ve read up about the wet belt that I’m getting done this year (ouch) and have read the past issues, but should I believe these horror stories?  It’s really taken the shine off of my excitement.

Seriously though, the most common problems now come from the wetbelts.  Once they've been changed, and you're sure the correct oil has been used, with no engine flush, then it'll probably give you many miles of enjoyment.  

The main thing is, even after you've had the belt done, is to use the correct oil and never to use flush

There are millions of these engines giving good service. Your neighbours forgot to tell you that. The Ecoboost is a modern engine which is powerful, economical, tiny and intolerant of monkey servicing. Treated properly it is fine.

You’re absolutely right, thank you - really appreciate that.

I’m booking in the wet belt in April and I’ve always regularly serviced and looked after cars I’ve owned.
