I need to replace both of my fuel lines. Any instruction?

Featured Replies

One of my lines is now badly leaking fuel. It’s rusted at all of the points where the plastic brackets are. The other line is in a similar condition although it is not leaking.

Does anyone have any advice or guidance on replacing them? I’ve never messed with fuel lines before.

Im going to try and buy 2 from the local scrap yard. I’ve also purchased the line disconnect tool.

I know about removing the pump fuse and letting the engine conk out to release some of the pressure. Apart from that I know nothing.

It’s really wet at the minute so I cannot take a good look at the fuel pump side. I hope I don’t need to drop the fuel tank or anything like that.

Unfortunately I could not find any video on this procedure for the fiesta

petrol or deisel, i beiive deisels can be a pain after fuel system work to bleed the air out.

It’s a petrol! I think it’ll just take a number of cranks to get it going again.

Im just a bit concerned that it may be somehow a difficult job. I’m hoping that it’s just 2 quick releases either end of the line but I cannot check until tomorrow

should be straight forward

Make sure you take proper precautions when having it up in the air, e.g. ramps / axel stands etc, especially with a lot of weight potentially shifting if you drop the tank. Wear some goggles to keep fuel from getting in your eyes. No smoking on the job, and keep your pet dragon at a safe distance.

Do you know if the tank will need to be dropped?

I thought dragons were only found in Wales, lol, it's on their flag!

But seriously, along with the precautions above, I'd also consider having a Fire Extinguisher to hand too. If you don't have one at home, car shops and even Supermarkets sell them. I saw a cheap one in Aldi a few weeks ago.

I’m going to borrow one of my friend for sure. I may even get a shop to do this for me yet. I’m going to have to assess it tomorrow.

Hopefully I can buy a line because I don’t want to learn how to repair a section of a pre-existing line tbh
