MK2 focus rear wheel noise

Featured Replies

Strange noise from rear of MK2 focus when taking right turns under load especially roundabouts. Sounds like a rhythmic whoosh whoosh noise in sync with the wheel moving. I've jacked up and checked the rear wheels for bearing play but can't feel any and the wheels spin fine. Had new shoes last year the springs and shocks have been previously done. Also recently passed mot. All I can think is maybe some play in the bearing under load is causing the brake shoes to catch the drum or backing plate

Hi I have exactly the same issue - wha wha noise from left when going around a round about - right turn. Did you ever confirm the issue? Strange but i also have had rear brake work done - both front and rear bearing seem fine. Very much appreciate any help to diagnose.

Many Thanks

I  can confirm that @Matt456432 is a genuine "One Post Wonder" and you won't get a reply !! 🤔

Hi found the issue if anyone is interested. Rear left brake shoe was damaged causing it not to sit correctly against the drum. Suspect garage did this when replacing the shoes - bent the lower part of the shoe due to springs. Removed shoe straightened the damaged part (hammer) all good now.
