Engine malfunction warning

I'm getting engine malfunction warning intermittently and it appears to be something to do with the dashboard cluster as sometimes the car won't start but if I push the cluster in then the car starts. Does anyone have any experience of this issue? 2008 Ford focus 1.6 petrol zetec.

    Sounds like symptoms of the classic solder joint issue on the cluster. I offer my own repair service for this on ebay, link below. You can also read more about the issue there.
