Mk7 duratec - which aux belt is correct?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2012 mk7 Fiesta 1.4 duratec (with a/c). Eurocarparts lists 3 aux belts, one 'with a/c, with electr. auxiliary heater', one 'without a/c', and one 'with a/c, without electr. auxiliary heater'.

I assume the one I need is the last one? Out of interest does anyone know what the auxiliary heater is, a block heater for diesels in cold climates maybe?

Thanks

Electric aux heater is fitted inside the heater box.  It uses elements like a toaster.  Most diesels have had these for the past 25 years, even in the UK, so you get cabin heat within seconds after switching the engine on, instead of having to wait for the coolant to heat up.  Also reduces emissions by allowing the engine to heat up more quickly, so ideal for the cheaper tax bracket cars.  A lot of small petrol's have them fitted as well though I don't think a Mk7 1.4 Fiesta will have one.

Unfortunately, the site we used to check vehicle specs (ETIS) has been decommissioned so there is now no way to check online.

You could measure your current belt before ordering, or just order the 'with AC/without aux heater' as I suspect that'll be the correct one.

Cheers, I can say for certain that you don't get cabin heat straight away, definitely takes a few miles of driving before the engine warms up. Without it is!
