REAR CAMERA

Featured Replies

I really need some help please. You guys have been really helpful in the past.

I have a Ford SMax. TITANIUM 2.0 TDCI 161 A (2010) EK60 ZHM.

The reversing camera has stopped working. My son has removed it. I attach a picture. I tried to purchase a new camera from the original Ford dealer part number 1870256, but the connecting clip was round not square. This part number was supplied by Ford from the chassis number so it should have fit and connected.

After talking to Ford they suggested another part number (1870253). This came in but also had a round connector.

Ford say it has been superseded but can’t help me any further as the only part numbers that are available are the 2 above with the incorrect connector.

I have found on EBay a camera for a Mondeo for the same year. It has the same connector and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas if this might possibly work.

Any ideas of how to proceed would be really grateful. If anyone knows how to get the original with a square connector , that would be even better.

There are a box of chocolates on offer if you can help.

Thanks in advance.

Shak

The 2010, Kuga, Mondeo, and S-Max all used the same reverse camera with the square connector.

Before buying a new camera I would check the connector located in the rear quarter panel (drivers side) for the camera. The pins make a poor connection and the video signal can often be lost at that point. Many years ago now I replaced the camera on a Kuga with a brand new Ford unit only to find it made no difference.

That sounds brilliant. As I said Ford main dealer have been no help at all which 8s really disappointing.

I have ordered the square connector.

When it is in and working i will let you know and arrange a box of chocolates.

Thanks very much.

Just out of interest i have noted that many parts say Focus, CMax, Mondeo, Kuga, SMax, Galaxy.

Do you know if the square connector is compatible on all the 2010 models

Thanks very much.

To the best of my knowledge the square connector was the only one in use with these cameras back in 2010. Ford like to share things across as many platforms as possible.

Thanks. That is so helpful.

Hi, I’ve just bought a 2011 S-Max Titanium X Sport and the camera is fuzzy and could do with being replaced I think.
mount of interest how much do Ford charge for a camera? I’ve seen the part numbers you noted on eBay for around £400 and can see the connector difference too.

thanks

Paul
