Fiesta ecoboost 2013 running cool

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Fiesta ecoboost 2013 which is running cool.  Used to be 4xbars on the temp gauge, now it is 2 or 3.

I went into the test menu and the temp when driving if ~65 degrees celsius.

So from a lot of googling I have concluded it is most likely the thermostat(s).  My understanding is there are two thermostats on the engine.  A main one and one on the cylinder block.  And it is probably the main one that has failed.

The garage initially told me there was no issue and the thermostat was working.  I said there were two, and they replied that there was only one that was on the passenger side of the engine.

They will replace the thermostat (the one they know about...) if I want.

So anyway - I am trying to find out where the two thermostats are roughly located - as I want to ensure they don't replace the cylinder block thermostat - but replace the main thermostat.  Or I may ask them to replace both.

Can anyone point me to the general location of the thermostats (as in driver side back of engine, or passenger side front and so on).

I have googled for hours and am still none the wiser - youtube videos show the thermostats but do not state which one is which.

I am clueless about cars as you can tell...

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks. I had already seen your old post, it was one of the first searches in Google that comes up.

I think the stat the guy will replace is the main one (seems to be attached to the hose that runs to the radiator - had to Google a bit to find out how it all hangs together).

I'm pretty sure its the main stat that has failed, as the hose to the radiator is hot, even though the car is only at 65 degrees.

Will post back next week once the work has been done.
