CyanLabs

Featured Replies

As some of you may have notice from a previous post from me I am having problems using Fords Sync 3.4 updater.  Ford system updated me to 3.4.22200 but would not accept my log file. Have tried re-updating on several occasion and forwarding the log file which each time gets rejected. From their update site it says 22200 is available but maps cannot be updated till this done.

On my previous car I always used CyanLabs to do all my my updates. Since getting my new Fiesta Mk 8 built in Sept 2022 I have had a nagging feeling in my mind that I read somewhere that the latest models cannot be updated using CyanLabs as it will damage the car system.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Your car will have a MY20 APIM, which will be bricked when using Cyanlabs reinstall method.

It's a leaked factory reformat tool. They use it to speed up the install as it's just loading files rather than having to unpack on to a second partition while the system is still running. However, as mentioned this tool bricks MY20 APIMs.

You should be able to force Cyanlabs in to using Autoinstall mode, which is what the official updates use. It's slower, but won't brick your APIM.

That said, 3.4.22200 is the latest version (other than a marginally newer test version that's leaked with no noticeable changes) and F11 maps is the latest.

So if you are on 3.4.22200 with F11 maps that's the latest anyway.

Thanks for that it is what I feared. I contacted Ford support with the problem of my log file not being accepted by the update system and been advised the technical branch will get around to checking it but are busy at the moment. I realise my car is up to date but the Ford sync update page is indicating that I have to install 22200, which I have already done, before I can install any more updates or map updates. It appears I am not the only member with this none acceptance of log file by Ford.
