I suspect that my Fiesta has an ice warning.

When I did the diagnostic check on the dashboard bulbs using the LCD display on the speedo', this orange "skidding car" warning light lit up. IIRC, it's at the right-hand end of the second row.

Can anyone confirm this?

BTW, I count no less than 17 warning lights on the instrument panel.

On the Mk 7 Fiesta I believe the orange skidding car light illuminates when the ESP (electronic stability programme) is active. There is a light warning of low temperatures which illuminates as an orange snowflake.

Maybe someone could correct me if I am wrong?

No doubt your car will have an ice warning light my ka does so I'm positive the fiesta would, however I'm pretty sure it is a snowflake type symbol rather than the 1 u describe, that sounds like it could be abs warning or something similar. Should all be listed in the manual that came with the car though.

Yeah post above is correct I think, the 1 u describe is ESP

The ABS fault light is (rather anachronistically) a drum brake with ABS in the middle.

ESP (Electronic Stability Programme). Yet another TLA (Three Letter Abbreviation). I really must get around to reading the manual.

No trace of a "snowflake" light. Mental note to self to check dashboard lights on the next really cold night. The nights are drawing in, I suppose.

PS. I've just been reading up on ESP. Wow. Clever stuff. I've no plans to skid or aquaplane to test it, but it's nice to know it's there, though. And I hope, if I ever do find myself skidding or aquaplaning, that the last thing I'm looking at is the dashboard.

i never had anything kick in like that on mine... but i dont think the 1.25's have the same safety gear in that sense as the higher engined models, there is defiantly a snow flake, orange when it goes below 4 degrees, then red when it drops below 1 degrees

I have a Zetec 1.25 & it definitely has the ESP.

It became standard for all Fiesta models built from March(2010.5MY). Prior to that it was only an optional extra.

The skidding car is one of today’s 'universal symbols' to indicate there is a fault with the traction control. Should this light stay take the car down to your local dealer.
