Oil Pressure Low: Stop Safely

Featured Replies

For a few months now, the Oil Pressure Low: Stop Safely light has flashed when I start up. That was that. Today, on a long motorway, journey it kept flashing every few seconds. Also the car parking assist light (that's the one of the left, just above the heated seats light, it has an @ symbol) has switched itself on and I can't turn it off. Am I correct in still thinking this is an electrical sensor problem, not an engine one. I've driven for c150 miles with the flashing and the engine seems fine, but.... I've checked the oil and the level is fine, but that's about as far as my capabilities go.

Is this the Ecoboost 1.0 engine ?

Not sure. The Fiesta's definitely a 2015 though.

That will be why it says 2018 in your profile ?

Well you will find out what engine you have soon enough when it seizes up. You need to get it to a garage quickly before it's too late.

Sorry I don't have your level of knowledge Unofix, but thanks for putting me in my place. If anyone else could help, ideally in a constructive way, that would be really helpful...

Unless you tell us what engine it is there is not much else that can be said. Low pressure is bad for any engine, but it’s usually indicative of the 1.0 going eco boom from wet belt deterioration.

Have checked. It's a 1.0Ecoboost.

Don’t drive it anymore until you can get it looked at. But it might already be terminal. Low oil pressure warnings even if intermittent are usually as a result of the oil pickup getting obstructed by bits of the wet belt. It starves parts of the engine of oil.
