Rear wiper

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, my daughter has just passed her test and bought a mk6 fiesta, the rear wiper won’t turn off when I put a fuse in, I’ve got conflicting arguments wether it’s the switch or relay,, also I couldn’t find the relay, any ideas ?

Could also be the GEM.

Check the condition of the switch first though

Don't think there's a separate relay on the Mk6.  Stalks don't often fail.  GEM would be my first point of call as well.

General Electric Module.

The electro-mechanical "brain" that controls many functions of the car.

It's called the body control module nowadays, I don't know where it is on MK6, they're normally under the glovebox though. It'll be the unit where all the fuses and relays are.

As a cheap fix, you could mount a switch on the dash, switching the fuse on and off to turn it off when you don't want it

Thanks Dave, sounds like an idea, she’s just passed her test so it’s only a old banger to gain some confidence from

One thing I always like to try when anything involves a"computer", is to carry out what is known as a "Ferranti/Marconi/Schlumberger/Windows Reset".

In other words, disconnect the battery for an hour.

But the fault might just be the "Park" contact in the motor itself.

Marconi

There's a good old name from the past. I worked for Marconi for just over 10 years, 1978 to 1988 when sadly the factory closed.

A bit off topic, but Marconi.....

My first experience was the "Oceanspan", and final was the 7500 UHF Pulsed Klystron TV transmitter for the IBA.  Ever meet Tracey Pearl ?
