Ford S max wipers not working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I have a Ford S max and the front wipers are not working, they only work if I press the button for the washers. I’ve checked fuses and also changed the wiper switch but still nothing. Any help ?

Very common problem is water ingress in to the GEM.

Disconnect the battery before removing connectors from the GEM.

Where is the GEM located ? I’ve disconnected the battery for 25 minutes but still no luck.

The GEM is part of the passenger compartment fusebox.

Normally located behind the glovebox. Do not work on the GEM unless the battery is disconnected.

Thanks. How would I know it’s faulty? Like I mentioned the wipers work only when I press the button for the washers.

Fully remove the GEM. Look for signs of water ingress and/or greenish corrosion on the pins of the connectors and on the circuit board tracks.

Is it the fuse box under the glovebox ?

Yes.

Thanks. If that’s all good. What else do I need to check ?

Just had a look at the fuse box and it looks ok, no water damage or corrosion etc

I just found some damage to the BCM. I’m going to order a new one. Will I need to get it coded in ?
