New S Max owner with issues

Featured Replies

Hello I just bought my S Max titanium it's a MK2 on a 15 plate, 180 Powershift. Bought cheaply from a private seller so expected a couple of problems.

1) adaptive headlights not available. Main beam works but when I put the main beam assist on it faults and then stops you using the main beam, even manually until a key cycle. I seem to find a lot about this on the Edge but not so much on the S Max. Anyone had a similar problem? Or ideas on how to fix?

2) panoramic roof blind will close no problem but sags slightly. When opening the blind it doesn't disappear behind the headliner completely and bunches up. I can then tuck it away but again would be nice to find a solution. Or is it a new blind job?

3) lastly not really an issue, car doesn't have power tailgate, weird considering it has pretty much every other option. Can this be added ?

While im new here ill try to answer as best as i can....

1. Just got through a headlight problem myself (not the same as yours) but my first bit of advice is go and get one of these....

Plug into the odb port and then into your laptop - download ForScan which is free and see what it says...

2. Yep - roof blinds go that way if theyre left closed....ours has gone the same way. We always left it closed....ill be posting on how i get mine sorted out....when i get to it..!

3. Ours is the same...no power tailgate but thats never bothered me tbh...so i cant comment on that so say...

Not so weird they are typically a £1200 option. To retro fit a genuine Ford power tailgate system would probably cost more the the original option.

Cheers for the reply. As for the headlight issue I've discovered that disabling start stop seems to fix the fault. I e used my CTEK to charge the battery but still if start stop is enabled it faults. I know the hardware is good because it works occasionally.

I think I'll leave the blind open and uses my arms to open the boot.

Thanks Unofix didn't realise it was so expensive
