Featured Replies

Hi all, my car's alloys are out of shape according to garage so need to replace, but ford ones will be over 1k so looking at others, but what sizes etc should I need to look for please, mine currently are 18" but have no idea on studs or anything. Any help really appreciate it. Thanks

Was it the garage advice to replace? I've had pretty damaged alloys in the past which were perfectly OK after professional repair, far cheaper than replacement.

I had really bad vibration on car, which needed driveshaft doing but he also said that alloys were out of shape too, he has done his best to balance them so now vibration is slight but he said will need doing at some point. I figure it's best to get new and to do the four?

If you've money to burn, sure, buy new ones, but they'll be fine with a proper repair. I'd take them to a wheel specialist to get some proper advice.

I've never found cheap wheel repairs locally.  Often found cheap genuine wheels brand new or nearly on eBay & Gumtree etc though.  Best bargain was a brand new 16" alloy for my Focus Titanium for £50, albeit back in 2014 lol.

The S-Max uses the same basic hub size as the Mondeo & Focus etc.  5 stud.  5x108 PCD.

Difficult to know what to suggest as used 18s are likely to be a bit beaten up due to the low profile tyres, but I definitely wouldn't spend a grand on a new set.

I didn't know that a repair was possible if they out of shape, I'll look into it thankyou

You should see some of my mates alloy wheels after a few rally stages. Bent, sometimes literally cracked/broken, there is a whole industry that are capable of very high quality alloy repairs! At least you'll see what options you have...

Or, if theyre a lost cause then get some second hand ones and get them refurb'd - i bought a spare alloy that while straight (for our little toyota iq) looked like it had been at the bottom of a duck pond for years.....came back looking like brand new...

Thankyou for all help, mine are now in to be straightened and have a makeover. Less than £400 all in so pretty happy given new ones costs.

Cheers

I knew they'd be able to be repaired ... We'll need an 'after' photo!

Hoping it will solve the issue first and foremost and I will try and work out how to send photo 🤗
