2012 Focus 1.6 NA - 2014 Focus 2.0 ST

Featured Replies

Hi chaps.

Hope everyone's doing well.

I am contemplating upgrading a Ford Focus Titanium 1.6 Sigma. MK3. Naturally Aspirated.

To a Ford Focus ST-2 2.0 EcoBoost. MK3. Late 2014 so looking more towards 64 reg.

If I could potentially find an owner who's looked after the ST properly and maintained it well with:-

- Regular servicing equipped with Service History

- Low thousands miles (4-5k) between MOT's

- Records of any work completed

- No major or dangerous immediate repairs on MOT's

- Decent mileage (40,000 to 60,000)

Is the two litre EcoBoost of around the year of 2014 a safe option of engine to consider?
Are they able to withstand ageing or do they run into issues as they get older and accumulate higher mileage?

I'm looking towards an unmodified version, untouched with no re-maps.

For the Titanium I purchase my own Service Kit so I understand what oil and parts go into the engine.
Wiper blades, brakes - rotors, pads, calipers, any parts I also look to purchase myself.

Would the difference in pricing for maintenance and parts for the ST be extortionate compared to the standard 1.6 model?

Is there anything specific to particularly look out for when viewing or checking over the MK3 Ford Focus ST-2?

Would I run into any problems going from multi point fuel injection of the 1.6 to direct fuel injection of the 2.0?
Do they suffer from the carbon build up?

Any information or feedback is always appreciated.
Thank you.

Happy Sunday Ford Lot 😁
