Help - Ford Fiesta, what Jubilee Clip is this??

Featured Replies

Hello I have a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Zetec S. It looks like on service with Ford that the Jubilee Clip was left off. My car has started using more Coolant and making a clattering sound (unsure if connected?)

However I cant find what Jubilee Clip is in the picture. I ordered a standard one off Ford eBay, but they haven't responded to let me know what part o need after asking what my reg was.

Can someone be kind enough to tell me what part number or point me in the direction where I can find one? I just can't find any that have the gaps in to allow it to fit correctly!?

Thanks in advance and hope someone can help

The original Jubilee clip will be Ford specific and only available from the parts desk at a Ford dealer. It may actually be only supplied as part of the hose assembly.

You could just use the double wire style jubilee clip which should fit without a problem. For example see these on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/double-wire-hose-clips/s?k=double+wire+hose+clips

The infamous 1.0 Ecoboom engine normally only uses coolant and makes clattering noises shortly before catastrophic engine failure. Has your car done high miles ?

The missing jubilee clip on the airbox will be unrelated.

Thanks so much for your response. I have been searching for days and trying to speak to Ford on eBay, but not got anywhere.

Maybe an ask at the parts desk will get me one. Hopefully won't cost too much.

I had heard about the Ecoboom when I first started looking at the cars. The car I have is a 2014. Is this year still affected? The car has done around 68k miles. Maybe I should start to look at what else I could trade this in for!?

Sadly Yes 🙁

You are due very soon to have the wet timing belts replaced (10 years maximum life expectancy) which will cost around £1500 at a Ford dealer.

If your engine is now using coolant and making clattering noises then it is probable the head gasket has gone. When was the last Ford service on the engine ?

Oh dear.

The service was done last year. She says it isn't everytime she drives it, but it does happen alot of the time.

Never knew about the 10 year thing. Sounds like it's entering an expensive part of its life. It's the mrs's car and she could do with a 5 door with now having an 18month, so maybe it's time to look.

I have my own car, a 2019 Focus 1.0 St-Line X 4th Year Service due and that's down in the book as a big service. So that sounds like it's going to be expensive.

Yes, there are few garages other than a Ford dealer who will do the work so options can be limited. Even 'Professional' second hand car dealers get caught out with the 1.0 Ecoboost. You might find this little video of interest:

Suprised the focus in that video got that far lol. I thought when the oil pressure light came up it was usually too late as the engine has been starved and these engines seem a bit fragile but in this they just cleaned it out and replaced the belt and it was good to go. You'd think if the oil light actually comes up on time a lot more of these engines would be saved.

To answer the original question - the clamp is only available as part of the pipe as Unofix suggested.  Part number 1799827.

Doubt you'll be able to buy a new one anywhere on it's own.  Either make an aftermarket part fit or buy a used one from a breakers yard.

As for the coolant dropping - look for signs of damage around the coolant reservoir and the thin pipes between that and the engine.

Thanks for all the info people.

Ford eBay have just said they don't have part and to go into the nearest Ford Dealer. So frustrating that they sell these, but only if you buy the whole lot. Such a cash grab!

I'm told the noise isn't apparent straight away if you start the car. She says it comes from the passengers front. Either clattering or screeching! It occurs usually when turning and not driving straight. I will have to go on a run with it to try identify. Don't want to take to Ford cos they will have my pants down! (I've suffered from injectors on my last Ford Focus to know the bills they charge.)

How long ago was the service?  If it was recent, take it back and ask them to replace the clamp.

Difficult to diagnose the noise so far but if it's knocking with the wheel turned then it's likely to be a driveshaft CV joint.  Unless it's something else Ford forgot to refit during the service...I'd double check the wheel nuts are tight tbh.

Probably around a year ago so that boat prob shipped. It was RAC when changing her battery that noticed it was missing. I did notice that the slight noisy engine note changed and went much quieter when I shoved the pipe more on. I was very hopefully all the noises would stop. Makes it more difficult that it's not my car. Yet frustrates me more as I know any costs or changing of car will come from my pocket.

She has said there's someone at her work that they all use. An ex college who now has his own garage. I will get her to take it to him to check it out. That way we can get an idea. Ford will prob take apart and charge an arm n leg. Thanks to the person who told me about the £1.5k service. Deffo food for thought. If to change etc. This i 3 door and she could do with a 5 door with little one. The used market is so expensive (it seems since last time I looked) so even switching the car will cost a fortune. Damn cars! 😂

Is it a standard size? Or am I best just taking the pipe off the car and then just measuring the diameter? Prob answering my own question but I think I will need slightly smaller than that measurement as it is recessed.

Still strange why they have to make this proprietary clamp when most other hoses and manufacturers use a standard issue.
