ford fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2009 ford fiesta style.  There  was a strong smell of diesel in my car so I ended up having all the injectors changed.  Ever since I have had that done, it's never run right.  It keeps going into limp mode, turning it off and starting it up again doesn't make any difference.. I have had several diagnostics done on it and it keeps saying there is a fault on injector 2.  It has  now been in the garage since January 2023, the mechanic hasn't got a clue what is wrong with.  He has swapped injector 1 and 2 around but it still says there is a fault on injector 2, he's even bought another injector and tried that but it still says the same.  When I was towed home by the RAC, he said it could be the electrics .  My son did change the top wiring loom behind the engine and for a couple of days, it ran like a dream but then it went again.  My mechanic is getting frustrated because he can't find the fault and I'm getting frustrated because I have no car.  Has anybody got any ideas on what the problem could be ???  I'm desperate for some help.

Sounds like injector loom issue.  The plug on these is poor and can come apart easily.  Not much you can do if it's at a garage but making sure the plug is together tightly with no loose pins would be the first thing I'd check.  Loose pins tend to create a burnt effect inside the plug so should be obvious if there are any.

Now I know you might find this a little bit of an odd thing to say but please try it.

Swap injector 3 with injector 4 and see if the fault changes.

If it does then your mechanic is counting the injectors from the wrong end of the engine. They won't be the first, or the last to make the mistake of counting them wrongly.

Thanks for the advice, I will pass this on to the mechanic.  Anything is worth a try, I'm just desperate to get my car back

okay, so I got in touch with my mechanic and both of the things suggested have already been looked at and tried.  I'm absolutely gutted, I really thought that at last, one of these could be the answer.  I feel like crying, I'm so frustrated, 5 months with no car

Time to find a new garage !! 🤔

Next up is checking the engine ECU plug.

Then while that's apart, test the full length of the wiring from that plug right the way through to the injector plug.

If the wiring all tests perfect, that then means the problem could be with the engine ECU itself.

As Unofix says, it seems like your garage is out of their depth, time to look for a better one.
