Hi im trying to fix my temp gauge. Ive figured out that there are two coolant sensors one goes to engine to operate fan and the other, at the back sends temp to the gauge. Can anyone tell me what type os sensor this is? Are they both the same? Completely flummoxed. Had car overheating cos did not know thermostat not working. I have replaced that ok. I have fiesta 1998 mk iv 60hp 1.3.

Thanks for any advice

1998 is a bit early for me, but these are the part numbers.  It looks like 1998 was a crossover year so you'll have to check the build date and/or check the colour of the sensors.

15 Sender Assy - Temperature
  • from 01.08.1988,
  • Valencia/HCS
15 1008790 Sender Assy - Temperature 1.00

Hi there, is it the endura-e engine? If so, I am also experiencing the same issue at the moment although I’m not so lucky as to have a gauge sender sensor on my engine which is most like the culprit on yours.
If it is an endura-e 1.3 engine, the coolant temperature sensor is the one which fits on the bottom left corner of the intake manifold (back of the engine as your looking at it) and is difficult to see but you should see the wiring and be able to feel for it. The gauge sender is fitted into one of the heater hoses that lead from the engine towards the cabin of the car. As you peer over the intake manifold you should be able to see it, or so the Haines manual claims. You can look up videos on YouTube to test the gauge to determine if it is a faulty sensor.

Could you possibly tell me where you got this information from? It would be very useful to me. Thanks.
