Ok Ive just put fuel in my new Fiesta for the first time. I had 30mls left in the tank and I put in £15 of V Power and the range only showed 115mls!!!! :( 41MPG on the clock.

Thought thats a bit low because £15 of vpower in my old ST with empty tank would be around 105mls!!

Is this right?

Assuming it was £1.239 a litre you filled up with 12.1 litres

Adding 85 miles (30>115) to your range works out at 7 miles per litre or 32mpg

Relying on trip computer can be wildly inaccurate so the best way to work out mpg is brimming the tank.

When i used 99 octane tesco and bp ultimate my mpg went down by a few. as i calculate it manually at every fill up.

There is no point using wild fuels in these fiestas it makes no difference from my experiance alone.

I have done 360 miles on this tank and i have 51 miles left.

I usually let it go down to 10 miles before filling up with normal juice.

p.s how many miles has your car done i have nearly done 8000 and iam noticeing that the engine is loosening up a little bit (not much though)

Hmm mines done 9000k, but it doesnt feel loose at all. Feels tight and plenty of flat spots, my dads 1.2 Micra is much eager :(

Maybe its been driven slow, so hopefully It'll loosen up. My MPG is 41 at the moment.

Once this crappy Tesco fuel is out of the tank I can start to use normal Shell or V Power in her and see how it goes. Even the Tesco fuel made my dads Micra go a bit lumpy haha

I was just a bit shocked at the range thats all, I changed from the ST for better economy and I saw that and thought hold on the ST gave me same readings and that was showing 27mpg with the same road trips.

Ive had a week off so cant see how the Fiesta uses its fuel on the work commute. Once Im back next week I can hopefully see how much it drinks!

Have you noticed our mpg's are very close.

I fill up nearly every week.

I actuallly only use the tesco crap and its driven moderately hard.

Its going to france at the end of the month and iam changing its oil before i go (castrol magnatec 5w-30

so that means that the focus st 2.5 turbo is only 14 mpgs more juicy :s sumtimes i hate all this mpg stuff , it never seems to add up , our 1.4 tdci is saying 64 mpg atm but worked it out wid pen and paper and it actually is 58 but our focus 2.0 turbo disel used to do 50 mpg so tht means there only 8 mpg in it , we might aswell of kept the focus and had double the power lol

Convert this to gallons (/ 4.54) = 2.76 gallons

Multiply by mpg (x 40) = 110 miles.
