Battery monitor reset MK 7.5

Featured Replies

Hi, Please can someone point me in the direction of the Battery Monitor Reset procedure for the Fiesta MK 7.5 (2017). I don't seem to be able to find it. My start / stop isn't working anymore even after a long journey so I guess it's time to replace the battery. The car was built in mid 2016 and registered in early 2017. It's the original battery as I've had the car since it was 3 months old.

BMS is only to be reset when a new battery is fitted, not because S/S isn't working.

What is the state of charge of your battery 1 hour after it is parked ?

If the SOC is less than 70% then S/S will be disabled.

Thank you for your message. Luckily I'm an electrical engineer so I have a very posh Fluke multimeter. I've just measured straight across the battery terminals and the car has been parked for about 1.5 hours. I've measured 12.06 Volts so there lies the problem. I'll get a new battery on Friday I think. I was asking about the reset procedure ready for when I get the new battery. Do you know where I can find the procedure ? Thanks.

That would suggest that the battery is on it's way out.

Just be aware that the Smart Charging system on your car is programmed to only ever charge the battery to a maximum of 80% so before you fit your brand new battery, give it a full over night charge are get it as close to 100% charged. Then fit the new battery and then reset the BMS. This will give it a bench mark to operate from and will help you get the most charge in to the battery that the cars smart charging system will allow.

Thank you 🙂 . Mine is the Mk 7 so it'll be the first method. I did remember it was something to do with the fog lights button from a discussion years ago on here but that was all I could remember. Will get a new battery on Friday then will give it a try.
